Data Types Collected and Used

User Data

Apple ID Information: Used for user authentication and account creation.
Username/Display Name: Chosen by the user for display in tournaments and interactions.
Tournament Performance: Records of user participation and results in trading tournaments.
Learning Progress: Data on user interactions with educational content and Q&A sessions.
Group Chat Messages: Messages you post in a group chat are stored by Moonvest and shown to the members of that group. Members of the group who have a Moonvest API subscription can also receive these messages through the Moonvest API and keep their own copies. Direct (one-on-one) messages are never sent through the API. When you recall a message, we tell API subscribers to delete it, but copies they have already received are outside our control, including after you delete your account.

App Interaction Metrics: Data on how users interact with the app's features.
Content Engagement Statistics: Information on user engagement with educational materials.
Feature Usage Patterns: Insights into which features are most frequently used.

Simulated Trading Activities: Records of user activities in trading simulations.
Tournament Performance Records: Data on user performance in tournaments.
Research History: Logs of companies researched by the user.
Company Watchlists: Lists of companies users are interested in.
Tip Transaction Records: For users who send or receive tips, we store transaction metadata (amount, currency, timestamp, sender/recipient username, and a Stripe payment identifier). Full payment card details and bank account information are collected and stored by Stripe, not by Moonvest.
Creator Payout Account Identifiers: For users who enable tipping, we store a reference to their Stripe connected account. Identity verification, tax information, and payout details are collected and held by Stripe.
Moonvest API Subscription Records: If you subscribe to the Moonvest API, we store your subscription status, billing period, the version of the subscription terms you agreed to and when, and Stripe customer and subscription identifiers. Payment card details are collected and stored by Stripe, not by Moonvest.

Device Information: Basic device data for app optimization.
App Performance Data: Information used to improve app stability and performance.
Crash Reports: Data collected to diagnose and fix app crashes.

All user data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Entry fees are processed securely through Apple in-app purchases, but no real money trading occurs in the tournaments.
Personal information is used solely for core app functionality.
Users can request data deletion.
Data is not sold to third parties.
AI features process queries locally where possible.

Apple Sign-In: For user authentication and account management.
Analytics Services: For monitoring app performance.
Cloud Services: For secure data storage.
AI Services: For providing research companion functionality.
Stripe: For processing tips, creator payouts and Moonvest API subscription payments. When you send or receive a tip, or pay for a subscription, Stripe collects and stores your payment card, bank, identity, and tax information directly; Moonvest does not store full payment card details. Stripe's handling of this data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.

Account Data: We retain your account information and personal data for as long as your account remains active.
Account Deletion: When you delete your account, all associated data including your user profile, tournament history, learning progress, watchlists, and research history will be permanently deleted from our systems.
Backup Retention: Backup copies of data may be retained for up to 30 days after account deletion before being permanently removed.
Aggregated Data: Non-identifiable, aggregated data may be retained for analytical purposes after account deletion.
Legal Requirements: We may retain certain information if required by law or for legitimate business purposes, such as fraud prevention.
